Congresswoman Karen Bass was the first elected official to return the money she had received from Ed Buck. She donated the money directly to Gemmel Moore's mother in 2017 less than 24 hours after she was first made aware of Gemmel Moore's death and Ed Buck's role.
Throughout the four years it took to get Ed Buck convicted, Congresswoman Bass was extremely supportive.
Now she's running for mayor of Los Angeles. Two of her opponents--Mike Feuer and Kevin de Leon are two of Ed Buck's top benefactors and spent the past four years ignoring the deaths of Gemmel Moore and Timothy Dean. They also did not return Ed Buck's blood money to the fund set up to help Ed Buck'd victims.
